The Athill family announces the passing of its matriarch Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Athill nee Dublin of Montserrat who resided in Liberta and Briggins, Antigua, for many years, and last in Leicester, England. Sarah died on August 19, 2024, at the age of 87 years
Sarah was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Daway-O’brien; Father, John Dublin; Mother In-law, Hildarine Athill; father-in-law, Samuel Athill; sons, Ivason Athill and Terence Markham-Athill; sister, Sarah Dublin; and sister-friend, Ernestine Weaver.
Sarah leaves to mourn her husband, Ivason Athill, retired assistant superintendent of police of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda
Children: Cynthia Athill-Simon, Dr. Cleon Athill, Verne Athill, Eloise and Dave Edwards, Madame Athill, Alfred and Dawn Athill, Germaine Athill, Lasean Athill and Husband Hubert Williams, Jasvinda Warner and Connie Timothy.
Sarah was grandmother to Karissa Belle-Guzman and Javier Guzman; Ashelle Athill and husband Gregory Lee Meeks Jr; Ashoy and Julie Athill; Gerande and Robyn Nathaniel; Tijani and Yohance Mottley; Tekesha and Akenzie Athill and Jailyn Graham; Nkose Stevenson and Carley Lightfoot; Michael Edwards; Kiwani Athill and Jessica Stewart; Jaheim Jarvis; Micah Sanderson and N’Jode Williams; Aretha Alexander.
Her great-grandchildren include Javier, Chelsea, Riley, Leigha, Kalel, Ava, Blair, Ivason, Amiyah, Ahmaud, Avayah, Tyler, and Kymiah,
Her adopted children include Dr. Patrick Challenger, Charlesworth Gage, Dr. Errol Samuel, Rev Donald Butler and Xavier Athill.
Sarah will be missed by her siblings: Isabel Daway and Oris Fergus and Carmen Nestian in the UK, and Josephine Francis in Canada; as well as her nieces and nephews: Spatzie Dublin in Canada, John Riley in Antigua, and Jodi Fergus-Kakad and Gareth Fergus in the UK, and adopted sister Josephine Lee and children in the UK; Special mention here of Earlyn Govia of Leicester and Geozel Warner, Liberta, and their respective families
Sarah also leaves to mourn her extended family to include the children of the late Pastor Peter Lee; Alfred Jeffrey and siblings; Muriel Warner and family; Zenroy Athill and family; Kelvin Bailey and Family; Artemus Athill; Children of the late Valena George; Vanroy Miller; Josephine Farrel and children; the Children of the late David Miller and the late Wilbert James; the children of the late Sister Casilda and Eric Joseph; and the children of the late Ernestine Weaver; Dr. Marcus Mottley; Trevor Simon, and Quincy DeMendoca
Sarah had a host of God-children who were all dear to her. These include Ernest Bradshaw, Connie Silcott, Denmore Robert, Denise Byers, Haymish Pringle, Oris Browne, Elroy Paige, Shane Heskey, Glenroy Burton, Dion Francis, Marlon Isaac, and Cherisse Butler.

Sarah also leaves to mourn her neighbours at Liberta, Bendals Rd, Briggins, and Leicester to include: The late Rosalind Charles and Family; the Challengers; Children of the late Ms. Consie Paul; Sister Velva Burton and Family; Melanie Richards and Family; The Jameses; The Phillips; Isa Burton and family; Avril Greene and family; the family of the late Naomi and Stanford Simon of Liberta; The Petersons, Parkers, Harleys, and Corneliuses on Bendals Road and the Grants, the Brownes, the Cottams, and the Fabiens at Briggins;
Sarah was very active in the church. She will be remembered specially by the congregation and the choir of Barnabas and St Paul Anglican church, and by members of the Mothers Union, and clergy across the Diocese of North Eastern Caribbean and Aruba.
Sarah also leaves to mourn many family and friends in Montserrat, Dominica, and Trinidad to include: Bernadette Daley and family in Trinidad, Desmond and Audrey Dublin, and Rebecca Daway in Dominica; Rose Willock and family, The Daleys, Harpers, Dublins, O’Briens, Hixons, Meades, Lees, and Wades of Montserrat
She will also be remembered fondly by her beloved sisters of the AJANI group, Leicester.
